Far before I married into the Anderson family, I was warned that it was going to be a challenge to keep up with these Franklin socialites! They were correct, these guys love to party. I’ve learned a few things after hosting events, and my top tip is simple but effective: include things you know your guests love. It just so happens that our guests love a good cocktail, so we made sure to have a few bar set ups in spots where main traffic is when we entertain.
We have a fun outdoor screened in patio at our home, and often guests will gravitate here during a party. It’s a pretty sizable area, so I had room to include a large piece and wanted to convert it to a bar. As Stephanie and I have mentioned before, Facebook Marketplace is a wonderful way to shop vintage or second hand. I found this wooden armoire for $100, and somehow convinced my husband and his friend to rent a U-Haul and pick this 400 pound baby up. They still have some strong feelings about that adventure, but all is well that ends well, right?
I loved this project because I did NOT want to paint the piece. There’s a careful balance when including refreshed pieces, and prefer to limit the amount of painted furniture.Plus, I love how a wooden piece can bring warmth and texture to a room.
The minor tweaks I made were taking out the middle shelf, adding a small hole to wire the mini fridge and lamp, and stocking. We would love to see your creative bar creations – Happy hosting!
