Best Places to Find Affordable New and Vintage Hand-Knotted Rugs

Posted on

Adulthood has changed me and uncovered new loves for things that I never thought I had–indoor plants, a stunning chandelier, a freshly weeded garden, soft linen bedding.

But probably the most important discovery I have made is how much I love beautiful hand-knotted rugs and how they can transform a room.

I love gorgeous, unique, hand-knotted rugs. All sizes and colors. Vintage and new. If I have learned anything throughout my first two years of homeownership, it is that a rug is the anchor for any room.  The perfect rug brings warmth and coziness to a space and helps tie the room together.

I have spent hours upon hours searching the web for the best deals on rugs that I can find. In fact, I have used PowerPoint in an attempt to Photoshop rugs into many different rooms in my house to visualize what they may look like. It can take a while to find the perfect rug to fit your room, especially if the rug is one of the last pieces to add to your space. And on top of that, some of these amazing rugs out there come with quite a high price.

While they may be well worth that, I know that there ARE rugs out there at an affordable price. And I’m going to tell you where to find them!

Here are my top 4 favorite places to find gorgeous new and vintage rugs for a great price:

  1. Etsy: I would be embarrassed to tell you how much time I have spent scrolling through Etsy.com to find the most gorgeous vintage hand-knotted rugs. It’s not hard to spend hours looking at their huge selection. If you love the worn, well-loved look that brings so much character to a room, Etsy is the best place for you. I purchased this rug for my office/guest bedroom and am absolutely in love with it. And look at the detail in this rug!! There are pale greens and pinks, and creams and browns. And you will even see a touch of blue. It is dreamy.
  1. Overstock.com: This is one of my new favorite places to shop online for new hand-knotted rugs. Two personal favorite sellers are Shabanu Rugs and Pasargad. Sign up for Overstock.com to get an additional 15% off!  I got this mini Oushak on Overstock for a steal–isn’t it precious?! Here’s a tip: search for rugs that are on clearance to find the best deals! I have seen some great prices on 8×10 and 9×12 rugs by searching through the clearance items.
  1. ebay: This might surprise you, but ebay can be a great rug source for you if you have a lot of patience and you get a thrill by outbidding others on timed auctions. Our friend Laura has found several gorgeous rugs on ebay. While I am no expert when it comes to ebay, I have been able to find dozens of rugs of all sizes that ended up going for under $250, and many that come with free shipping in addition to that! It is definitely worth a look if you are on the hunt for the perfect rug. I have seen both new and vintage rugs on ebay.
  1. Find a local rug dealer: While these are all great options, finding a local rug dealer may be your best option. Because it is difficult to show the true colors of the rug fully in photos, being able to see a rug in person can make finding the perfect one much easier. Most dealers carry both new, vintage and antique rugs and have the ability to custom make a rug to fit your space. Our personal favorite, local rug dealer is Persian Home Decor in Franklin, TN. The owner has a great selection for extremely affordable prices and is able to ship them to you wherever you are located. He is knowledgeable about rugs and can help you find one (or several) to transform your space. We have both personally purchased rugs from Persian Home Decor and would highly recommend him! In fact, my favorite rug in my house came from this dealer. He brought it out and it was fate–of course my shirt was an exact match to the rug. Cameron and I both agreed that I had to have it. It’s a gorgeous blue modern Oushak with pale blue designs. (And if you look close enough, you can see me holding my fake Photoshopped bedroom designs with rugs I was looking at that day!). If you are local to the Nashville, TN/ Franklin, TN area, check out Persian Home Decor . He can also ship rugs to you if you are out of state!

Are you swooning over these rugs, too?

Where is your go to place for rugs at a great price? We would love to see pictures of your favorite rugs! Send them our way!
